Dr. Van Vollenhoven’s research interests focus around the development and systematic evaluation of biological and immunomodulatory treatments for the rheumatic diseases. With his co-workers, he established the Stockholm registry for biological therapies (the STURE database) which supported research projects relating to clinical efficacy, pharmacology, outcomes and pharmacoeconomics. She is Co-Director of the Gladman Krembil Psoriatic Arthritis Program University Health Network, which she founded in 1978 and directed till 2023 She has been Co-Director of the University of Toronto Lupus Program since 1977. Professor Gladman has researched both systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) with emphasis on database development, prognosis studies, genetic markers for disease susceptibility and expression, assessment instruments, and quality of life measures. She has carried out clinical trials in these conditions. He obtained his medical degree from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, where he also completed his initial clinical training before specializing in rheumatology. Since 2016, he has been working at Charité, an ASAS Centre of Excellence. Dr. Van Vollenhoven’s research interests focus around the development and systematic evaluation of biological and immunomodulatory treatments for the rheumatic diseases. With his co-workers, he established the Stockholm registry for biological therapies (the STURE database) which supported research projects relating to clinical efficacy, pharmacology, outcomes and pharmacoeconomics. She is Co-Director of the Gladman Krembil Psoriatic Arthritis Program University Health Network, which she founded in 1978 and directed till 2023 She has been Co-Director of the University of Toronto Lupus Program since 1977. Professor Gladman has researched both systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) with emphasis on database development, prognosis studies, genetic markers for disease susceptibility and expression, assessment instruments, and quality of life measures. She has carried out clinical trials in these conditions.
